Last night was a blast! JZ Bich managed not to get tangled in her balkanized costume and beauties from various countries joined her in her quest for unAmericanness! Bettina May, a current New York resident who hails from Canada brought her salute to her homeland (our Northern neighbors were never so sexy as last night!)… Paaije Flash, who is herself from Jamaica, dismantled the myth of asexual housewife … quite contrary her housewife was anything but asexual! Always provocative, the video by I.R. Marin tackled the issue of surveillance, that omnipresent threat of being watched we all grow up with … from god to government we are never alone! Another Jamaican ex-patriot, the Incredible Edible Akynos did a sexy shake dance for us…Essence Revealed revealed something about her dual citizenry and twirled some Barbados inspired pasties on her derriere! Last year’s best MEW debut winner,LouLou D’Vil brought in the icy beauty of Finland in her tribute to this land of rain deer and Santa before she continues her journey to the MEW competition!Divina Gransparkle,freshly inspired by her renewed artist visa (she came to us from Brazil) showed off her inner zebra and shared some patriotic cake with us. The night wrapped up withAlexander Alvina Chamberland, who is visiting New York from Sweden and Berlin and who shared an anti racist, anti imperialist, gender queering statement.
We can’t wait till June and Camp: Queer. Will tell you more about it soon!
